The Arcanists

Ramos

Doctor Victor Ramos' presence in Malifaux can be summed up in three words: Inventor. Visionary. Revolutionary.

Although he is the leader of the Miners and Steamfitters Union in Malifaux, Dr. Ramos struggles to delegate the Union's daily operations to others, leaving discussions with Guild lawyers on issues of mine safety and contract grievances to his trusted agents. This allows him to focus his towering intellect to how best to implement the technological secrets of Old Malifaux his research and studies have unlocked and put them to work in modern machineries of his own invention. Even these two monumental responsibilities pale in comparison to the cause he has dedicated himself to completely - the eradication of the Guild's presence in Malifaux.

Few have a working knowledge of the Arcanist's hierarchy in Malifaux, including the resistance movement's leadership. Dr. Ramos prefers it that way. If his involvement in the Arcanist resistance were ever made public everything he has worked for both with the M&s;SU and his inventions would be suspect. Despite this he continues to direct Arcanist actions from behind the scenes. For Ramos and the other Arcanists, nothing is as important as securing the supply of soulstones for themselves. They well remember what the Guild's stranglehold on the magical resource had done Earthside during the decades the Breach was sealed and refuse to let that stranglehold ever happen again.

Overview

Players interested in Constructs will find Ramos well-suited to controlling entire Crews of the mechanical creations. Ramos is also able to create floating bombs with his Electrical Creations as well as summon Steampunk Arachnids which can then join together into larger swarms. He is used best at a distance as his melee skills are lacking and he does not have the same defensive abilities that other Masters do.

Starting Ramos

The best place to start collecting a Ramos Crew is with the Miners and Steamfitters Union which should give you enough models to play a small game. If you want to expand on this Ramos can hire a wide range of models as he has access to most of the Arcanist range and some Guild Constructs. Below are a few suggestions, but what you choose is up to you.

  • Electrical Creation

One of Ramos' most deadly weapons are his Electrical Creations, These floating mines can be created by Ramos and sent to blow up the enemy.

  • Brass Arachnid

The Brass Arachnid is one of Ramos' options for a totem. The Brass Arahnid can stoke the boilers on nearby constructs to allow them to reactivate.

  • Mobile Toolkit

Another option is his Mobile Toolkit, this helpfull construct makes it much easier for Ramos to cast his spells and make constructs.

  • Steampunk Arachnids

Arachnid Swarms can seperate into individual spiders that can go off and perform tasks. So it useful to have a couple of extra spiders lying around.

  • Injun Joss

Joss has a backpack created by Ramos that acts as a generator. When Joss is active it charges up his axes and makes them dangerous weapons.

  • Rusty Alyce

Leveticus' apprentice can be hired by Ramos. She brings with her a Bag of tricks including card draw, the ability to make constructs and a fairly effective gun.

Miners and Steamfitters Union set comes with

Arcanist Threat Growing

Arcanist attacks continue despite the Guild's best efforts to bring the revolutionaries to heel. Originally isolated to the Guild's resources these attacks have broadened in scope to encompass the businesses of Malifaux citizens as well.

New Play Begins Run At Star Theater

The Star Theater opened its new play, The Gregarious Guardsman, to a packed house last night. Despite the many catcalls and boos from a normally respectful audience the actors performed admirably. The play blends song, dance, comedy, magic acts, and more than one slight jab at the Governor General into a ribald treat.

Bad Weather Closes Down Access to the Mountains

Travelers hoping to explore the mountains north of Malifaux and beyond were forced to return to the City when an unseasonably harsh spate of snow storms closed all known routes through the ranges. Evidence gathered by a joint Elite Division investigation points to the storms being magical in nature, but the cause of them remains undisclosed to this newspaper.
