Perdita Ortega

The name Perdita Ortega is well known in Malifaux. Few have not heard of the exploits of the Ortega family and their beautiful raven-haired leader. Their adventures against the Neverborn are the stuff of dime store novels back Earthside. Young girls and boys emulate the stories of her battles, the girls always taking Perdita's part while the boys are left in the roles of evil Neverborn monsters. It is a life of frontier celebrity her brothers and cousins were quick to embrace when they joined her in Malifaux.

Not so Perdita. She shuns the spotlight, instead content to stay close to the family compound, Latigo, when not hunting down Neverborn for the Guild. She is not proud of her considerable talents. Her ability to bend bullets around corners, see in the dark, even her lighting fast reflexes which give her the appearance of predicting the future are not the things she is most proud of. Her talents are as natural to her as breathing or blinking, nothing she feels she should flaunt among the other residents of Malifaux. Killing monsters is what she was born to do and what she does best. The only thing, she fears, the entire Ortega clan will ever be good at.

Overview

Whether it's her lighting fast reflexes thanks to a built-in Fast, or her Quickdraw Action which allows her to wait for an enemy model to act and interrupt the Action Perdita Ortega is a handful for the enemy. Her high Defense and "Faster'n You" trigger mean that an enemy should be confident of its success before committing to ranged attacks against her. She is able to cycle Cards through Decks - her own and the opposing player's - allowing her to better control the outcome of Duels during a Turn. Thanks to Companion (Family) she is also able to activate with other Ortegas, creating a serious multi-faceted threat for unprepared enemies.

Starting Perdita

The best place to start collecting a Perdita Crew is with The Gunslingers which should give you enough models to play a small game. If you want to expand on this Perdita can hire most models in the Guild range. Below are a few suggestions, but what you choose is up to you.

  • Enslaved Nephilim

Perdita has captured one of the Nephilim she hunts and bound it to her. It acts as her totem and due to it's Neverborn nature is very capable at obeying the enemy to do Perdita's bidding.

  • Abuela Ortega

Abuela is the Ortega family's matriarch. She goes to battle with a sawed-off shotgun, can command the youngsters to do her bidding and can tend the wounds of the injured.

  • Guild Austringer

The Austringer can use his trained raptor to hunt down the enemy and attack them while he remains save behind cover.

  • Guild Guard

The Guild Guard act as the Guild's enforcers, armed with a pistol and a sword they are good in combat, but they are also able to cordon off areas of the board.

  • Executioner

The Guild's Excutioners are armed with two huge claws to rip apart the enemy. They also love their job so much that when they have execute a heathen they are revitalised and ready to run into the fray again.

Guild Fights the "Grafter" Menace

"Grafters," or individuals illegally combining human body parts with Construct mechanisms, are the latest group to be targeted by the Guild's Elite Divisions. Its newest Division, the Flesh-Construct Grafting Illegality Division - or Grafting Division as it is known as unofficially - is relentlessly pursuing these scofflaws under the direction of its commander, C. Hoffman.

Blind Justice

Once again the citizens of Malifaux can rest easy thanks to the dedicated men and women of the Death Marshals. Lady Justice and her able-bodied men have thwarted another Resurrectionist scheme before it could spill terror and violence onto our relatively peaceful streets.
