Ophelia LaCroix

Taking a page from the humans' book on warfare, Ophelia LaCroix has turned what was a losing battle against their encroachment into the Bayou into at the very least a stalemate. The LaCroix had been the strongest of the Gemlin kin and preparing to take on the kins led by Som'er Teeth Jones for control of the Bayou Gremlins until the Ortegas started hunting the Bayou for their kind. When the usual Gremlin tactics failed to repel the humans Ophelia watched their tactics, convinced that emulating their actions would give her the edge she needed in the fight.

Since then she and her closest kin have learned quite a bit and now mimic the mannerisms and fighting styles of the Ortega clan. Unfortunately the prism through which Ophelia and her kin have implemented the Ortega's talents has limited their effectiveness. Even though the LaCroix have been unable to push humans out of the Bayou they are now losing their battles with less frequency than they had before, something that even the ambitious Ophelia can be satisfied with - at least for now.

Overview

Ophelia and the other LaCroix Gremlins darkly mirror the abilities of the Ortega clan. She is an excellent shot with her pistol, and with her selection of Spells can increase its accuracy or damage depending on the situation. She has several abilities which augment Gremlins including Dumb and Lucky and Like Herding Squirrels. Her "Oooo! A Girl!" Action allows her to move other Gremlins toward her location in anticipation of a Gremlin rush, and her "Aim High, Boys" Ability ensures that a Gremlin player can shoot into melee without fear of hitting his own models.

Starting Ophelia

The best place to start collecting a Ophelia Crew is with the Born on the Bayou Box Set which should give you enough models to play a small game. If you want to expand on this Ophelia can only hire Gremlins. Below are a few suggestions, but what you choose is up to you.

  • Young Lacroix

Orphelia is followed around by a cluster of young gremlins that want to be just like her. They are tiny, hard to hit and armed with a pistol. They also count as her totems.

  • Bayou Gremlins

Bayou Gremlins are small, mean and green. They are armed with boomsticks they can form an impressive gunline and hopefully only a couple will explode or shoot their mates in the back.

  • Slop Haulers

Slop Haulers drag buckets of food with them to feed the piggies. They can help your models heal as even the gremlins are not above taking a quick snack from their slop buckets.

Gremlin Attacks on the Rise

The Gremlin nuisance continues to threaten pioneers settling in the vicinity of the Bayou. "These attacks have increased in frequency and are better organized than previous raids," said Guild Sergeant James O'Connor. "Even the Guild's presence near the Bayou has been overtaxed by the threat."
