The Resurrectionists

Douglas McMourning

For all of its efforts toward eliminating Malifaux's Resurrectionist threat one of the Guild's most dangerous foes operates with impunity within its midst. Morgue Master McMourning's fascination with the mechanisms of death and how one might live eternally drew him to Malifaux and led him down the Resurrectionist path. His position of authority within the Guild has afforded him certain... opportunities when it comes to necromantic matters.

For most Guild agents, to visit to Dr. McMourning's morgue is to call on a brilliant yet eccentric professional whose only companions are the dead and his simpleton assistant, Sebastian. Sebastian's simple-minded nature belies a low cunning that has more than once kept his scatterbrained master's "hobbies" from rising to the Guild's attention. Those whose suspicions about McMourning's frequent "missing" autopsies rise above simple conjecture tend to meet messy ends in dark alleyways.

McMourning retains a hidden research laboratory deep within the Quarantined Zone. There his creations are watched over by the horrific Nurses who do so in exchange for a touch of the immortality McMourning continually pursues. The good doctor fears nothing, knowing that if the Guild ever did discover his dark secret his Nurses would release the experiments into the City's settled streets unless he was set free.

Resurrectionist Symbol

Overview

Dr. McMourning can be played as a summoner, calling such fiendish creations as the Flesh Constructs and Canine Remains to the fight; or as a melee combatant, enhancing his own combat skills by using body parts cut from the flesh of his opponents. He is durable but not invincible, so a wise Resurrectionist player will be careful not to commit him to action against other Master or powerful melee opponents too early and without the proper support.

Starting McMourning

The best place to start collecting a McMourning Crew is with Body Thieves which should give you enough models to play a small game. If you want to expand on this McMourning can hire a wide range of models as he has access to most of the Resurrectionist range. Below are a few suggestions, but what you choose is up to you.

  • Grave Spirit

McMourning has a couple of totems to choose from, the Grave Spirit can attach to one of his creations and make it much harder from the enemy to kill. The other choice is the Zombie Chihuahua which can grab corpses and deliver them to it's master and also can be chopped up for parts.

  • Canine Remains

Raw flesh and bone for you to dissect into pieces and rebuild into powerful undead.

  • Necropunks

Necropunks are cheap minions that are great for grabbing objectives as they can leap over obstacles.

  • Rogue Necromancy

When you have enough corpses you might consider melding them together into this big guy. with 3 heads and a nasty attitude it gives you a lot of hitting power.

Coroner's Office Heading Body Theft Investigation

The Guild Coroner's Office continues its investigation of the theft of bodies intended for autopsy. "It is frustrating. We are here to serve the City. The victims - not only of the crimes which sent them to my care, but also of this second and even more heinous crime - demand justice. I am confident we will find the parties responsible soon," said Dr. McMourning.
