Leveticus

The pursuit of immortality has brought more than one individual to Malifaux. Its limitless wells of aetheric power and promises of forbidden magic perpetuate the belief that the key to this ageless quest lies somewhere beyond the Breach.

Leveticus is one such individual.

Malifaux provides many things to a man like Leveticus. Foremost, he has the privacy to pursue interests that would be considered distasteful in a more civilized environment. In the art of combining steel and bone, cog and sinew, Leveticus is a savant. He has used his talents to augment his own body despite his advanced age thereby perpetuating his own life indefinitely. Rumors persist he has died a dozen deaths. Witnesses claim they have seen him shot, stabbed, drowned, even crushed in a mine cave-in. Yet he always returns to his place of business, Captivating Salvage and Logistics, with some new tale of a narrow escape. These tales lend to his mystique, which he trades on while offering his services to the highest bidder - legitimate or otherwise - investing the income into further experimentation on the mysteries of flesh and machine and eternal life.

Overview

Leveticus is a powerful yet confusing Master for new players. He has several powerful abilities, such as being able to Summon Desolation Engines or cut a model's Wounds in half with a single Spell. His melee attack inflicts the single highest damage amount in the game, and he can nominate what suit he uses when he casts Spells. All of this power is tempered with the fact that Leveticus must wound himself when using many of his Abilites. Players should keep a supply of Hollow Waifs handy for his inevitable self-inflicted deaths. The Waifs allow him to continually return to battle once he has been killed, ready to fight again!

Starting Leveticus

The best place to start collecting a Leveticus Crew is with The Desolate and the Soulless Box Set which should give you enough models to play a small game. If you want to expand on this Leveticus can hire Undead, Constructs or Soulless models from any faction, check out what models are available to hire using the Crew Creator. Below are a few suggestions, but what you choose is up to you.

Additional Minions

  • Hollow Waifs

Hollow Waifs are essential to keeping Leveticus coming back from the dead, so you might need to pick up a second one.

  • Desolation Engine

The Desolation Engine is Leveticus' supreme creation, made from combining multiple Steampunk Abominations together.

  • Necropunks

Necropunks are cheap minions that are great for grabbing objectives as they can leap over obstacles.

  • Dead Rider

Leveticus can choose from a huge selection of minions the Dead Rider is an example of one of them. It's fast, regenerates and can drag the enemy back to Leveticus and his crew.

  • Ryle

Ryle is another example of a minion Leveticus can choose. Ryle is armed with a gatling gun that can mow down the enemy.

The Desolate and the Soulless set comes with

Gremlin Attacks on the Rise

The Gremlin nuisance continues to threaten pioneers settling in the vicinity of the Bayou. "These attacks have increased in frequency and are better organized than previous raids," said Guild Sergeant James O'Connor. "Even the Guild's presence near the Bayou has been overtaxed by the threat."

Rats in the Sewers

As the City is held in the grip of another outbreak of the plague many residents have taken up the mantle of rat catcher to eliminate the most probably carriers of the disease - Malifaux rats. Taking to the sewer system these brave souls have killed vermin by the hundreds, but to date the spread of the plague remains unchecked.

The Gentler Gremlin

Zoologist and evolutionary expert Dr. Tobias Strohmann claims Gremlins will be living among and interacting with humans in Malifaux within a few short years. Dr. Tobias points to what he calls several encounters with "a more civilized Gremlin stock" by pioneers as indication the presence of has instilled a curiosity in these Bayou-dwellers.
