C. Hoffman

Leading the Guild's newest Special Division, C. Hoffman has turned his hatred of Construct-human grafting into a campaign of revenge against the Arcanists he believes turned his brother into the very thing he has been tasked with hunting down.

Although he reluctantly followed Ryle through the Breach in pursuit of a half-promised treatment for his polio, Hoffman found their roles reversed when Breach Psychosis grabbed hold of Ryle and ravaged Hoffman's older brother's body. Only through the quick intervention of Dr. Viktor Ramos did Ryle survive - but as more machine than man.

Blaming himself and the Arcanists for his brother's condition, Hoffman turned to the Guild who saw in Hoffman an opportunity to infiltrate Arcanist operations. They have promised Hoffman the resources he needs to help his brother, using his newfound almost psychic talents to command and control Constructs in their fight against the Arcanist movement. Hoffman is no fool, however, and is perfectly happy to use the Guild's resources and be used by them for as long as they can help his brother.

Overview

C. Hoffman thrives while surrounded by Constructs. He can bolster their effectiveness, attack through them, even take over or borrow abilities from both ally and enemy Constructs. He can exert his will to detonate Scrap Counters both on the table and carried by models making any Scrap Counters carried by enemy models potential time bombs Hoffman can set off whenever he so chooses. Players who enjoy commanding Crews of Constructs will find Hoffman exactly the Master they are looking for. He is even able to hire Constructs from the Arcanist Faction, meaning it is not unusual to see an Arcanist Steamborg striding side by side with a Guild Peacekeeper in an Encounter.

Starting Hoffman

The best place to start collecting a Hoffman Crew is with The Constructs of Order which should give you enough models to play a small game. If you want to expand on this Hoffman can hire most models in the Guild range as well as some Arcanist Constructs. Below are a few suggestions, but what you choose is up to you.

  • Mechanical Attendant

Hoffman's totem is able to pick up extra scrap when constructs are sacrificed near it and has a Mauser to rain bullets down on the enemy.

  • Peacekeeper

The Guilds largest construct the Peacekeeper is a formidable piece of technology, armed with a huge claws and a Spear gun that can drag enemy to you.

  • Ryle

Hoffman's brother has went through some changes since arriving in Malifaux, having been largly rebuilt as a construct to save his life. He is armed with a Gatling Gun to vaporise the enemy.

  • Steampunk Arachnid Swarm

Hoffman can hire some Arcanist constructs into his crew including the Steampunk Arachnids. These spiders can split off into seperate spiders and their bite can stun the enemy.

  • Steamborg

One of the larger Arcanist consturcts Hoffman can hire. It climbs over debris easily due to it's four mechanical spider legs and leaves clouds of smoke in it's wake.
