Hamelin

For centuries the Tyrant entity known as Plague languished in a mystic prison within the Necropolis deep below Malifaux's streets. When his strength had sufficiently returned Fate took a hand, allowing Him to escape the Necropolis in possession of a physical body. Plague now walks the streets of Malifaux in the guise of Hamelin, the Ratcatcher. Hamelin spreads disease and pestilence wherever He goes, feeding on the energies released by each death His contagion causes. Hamelin schemes to take control of all of Malifaux before the other Tyrants can awaken, thereby cementing His claim on the living.

Plague has also tapped into the talents of His body's former resident, perverting the Ratcatcher's tune. Now when He plays his panflute or hums the tune softly it is transformed into a dark Siren's call which attracts the innocent to do his fiendish bidding. Hamelin regards all life in Malifaux as His to be used in whatever manner He wishes. He eliminates anyone standing in His way with the same callous disregard as those who would ally with and serve Him in the hopes their lives will be spared. While Hamelin walks, no one is safe.

Overview

Hamelin is a deceptive threat on his own. His Crew composition is limited to seemingly weak models and his ability to assign Blight Counters to models at first appears non-threatening. However, he is constantly surrounded by swarms of vicious Malifaux Rats which alone are a minor threat but coupled with his Spell selection and the Ratcatchers create a recurring threat opponents must deal with quickly and decisively before they overwhelm whatever strategies they may have planned.

Starting Hamelin

The best place to start collecting a Hamelin Crew is with The Plagued Box Set which should give you enough models to play a small game. If you want to expand on this Hamelin can be a touch picky, check out what models are available to Hamelin using the Crew Creator. Below are a few suggestions, but what you choose is up to you.

  • Obedient Wretch

The Obedient Wretch is one Hamelin's faithful followers. It can act as his totem so can cast his spells.

  • Rat Catchers

Rat Catchers are the lynchpins of Hamelin's rodent swarm. They can keep the rats swarming all over the enemy.

  • Malifaux Rats

You will need rats, lots of rats to swarm over the enemy and devour them.

The Gremlin nuisance continues to threaten pioneers settling in the vicinity of the Bayou. "These attacks have increased in frequency and are better organized than previous raids," said Guild Sergeant James O'Connor. "Even the Guild's presence near the Bayou has been overtaxed by the threat."
